The Idaho Board of Library Commissioners voted Aug. 15 to approve expenditures from the Library Services Improvement Fund and incoming lottery funds to support literacy and the Talking Book Service. Upon receipt of funds from the Idaho Lottery Commission, the board approved up to $50,000 for the Bucks for Books partnership and up to $30,000 in one-time LSIF expenditures for the Idaho Talking Book Service.
State Librarian Stephanie Bailey-White said LSIF funds would be used for replacement printers for TBS, to support some That All May Read grant applications, and for advertising; she described the Bucks for Books program as mutually beneficial to school libraries and the Idaho Lottery. Commissioner John Held moved the LSIF motion, Commissioner Dawn Wittman seconded, and the board approved the request unanimously.
