During public comment Lori Gardner said she paid property taxes at closing while escrow on the same sale also paid the taxes, producing canceled checks and an escrow letter she said prove a double payment. Gardner said the County records indicate the property was never paid for, that a lien and late fees are showing, and that she has not received responses from the Receiver of Taxes.
Councilman Gordon told Gardner he would meet her at the County office the next morning at 9:30 a.m. to help straighten out the discrepancy. The minutes record Gardner's statement that she has documentation, including a letter from Michelle Wessells, Receiver of Taxes. The board took no formal vote on the matter and directed no staff action beyond the councilor's offer to consult at the County office.
The matter remained unresolved at the close of the meeting; Gardner sought correction of the town's records and return of any duplicate payments.
