North Greenbush board adopts 2025 budget and special district assessments

Town Comptroller Michael Chaires explained major budget drivers, saying, "Health insurance has increased 13 ½%," and that state retirement estimates previously shown at $284,099 had been updated to $341,324. He also attributed increases to vehicle insurance, additional police staffing and general inflation in equipment and materials. Kathy Allen, president of the North Greenbush Ambulance, asked about a budget submission; Chaires told the board it had "no feedback" and the request was accepted as submitted.
Councilwoman Hoffman moved the resolution to approve the Special District Assessment Rolls, Operation & Maintenance Charges and the Final 2025 Budget (Resolution 2024-11-96); Supervisor Bott seconded. The board paused to let the comptroller re-run figures, then reconvened and approved the resolution with four Aye votes. The board recorded routine motions to open and close public hearings prior to the final vote.
The approved budget reflects the explicitly stated increases Chaires reported and authorizes the assessment and O&M charges as presented. The board did not adopt any additional fee changes at the meeting; members discussed, but deferred, a potential increase in developer contribution for greenspace.
