Chief Van Gorder briefed the board that Station 292's 16‑foot front‑bay expansion has its exterior shell in place, crews are removing concrete bollards and floor pours and roof installation are expected in the next few weeks; the project remains on budget and should be complete around late September to Oct. 1. "They should begin to pour the floors in the next couple weeks ... it should be done around the end of September, October 1," he said.
On apparatus, Van Gorder said five vehicles are on order and the rural water‑supply tanker is ready for final inspection. Staff plan to travel to the manufacturing facility in Holden, Louisiana, on Aug. 4–6 for a final inspection and acceptance; the tanker is expected to be back in service in September.
Why it matters: the bay expansion will increase station capacity and the new tanker will improve rural water‑supply capability, both of which affect response options for mutual‑aid and local incidents.
