Town authorizes contract with Village to provide street-light maintenance after LED conversion
Summary
Following the expiration of an NYPA maintenance agreement, the Town authorized the Supervisor to sign an intermunicipal contract with the Village of Horseheads so the Village Highway Department will perform street-light maintenance and repairs for Town-owned lights.
The Town Board approved Resolution #121 authorizing the Supervisor to sign an intermunicipal contract with the Village of Horseheads for street lighting services. The Board noted that after an LED street-lighting project the Town owns the street lights and that the prior NY Power Authority maintenance contract expired in October 2025. Under the new arrangement, the Village Highway Department will provide equipment, labor, and maintenance on a contract basis.
The resolution was moved by Councilman Arthur Laurey and seconded by Councilman Riopko and carried with unanimous ayes. The arrangement is to be executed by the Supervisor per the resolution.
