Mt. Tabor offers Danby site for transfer station under 10‑year lease with conditions

The Mt. Tabor Select Board chair, M. Gasperetti, told the Danby Select Board on Feb. 13 that Mt. Tabor would consider hosting Danby’s transfer station on Mt. Tabor land under a 10‑year, no‑cost or low‑cost lease. Gasperetti said the offer would include conditions to protect Mt. Tabor’s interests: adequate insurance to cover both Mt. Tabor and Danby, maintained access to a cave on the property, and a prohibition on removing natural resources from the site.
Gasperetti said layout and operational details — including dumpster and compactor placement and any compost plan — would be determined by Danby. Select Board members who attended a prior Mt. Tabor meeting (Heaton and Fuller) reported the towns discussed entrance widening and parking, and suggested a joint workshop be scheduled to draft a site plan and lease terms.
