Town announces playground build, Community Day and billing changes; recycling day set for Sept. 14

Supervisor Bott opened the meeting with several community and administrative announcements: construction of a new playground at town hall is scheduled to begin next week with an approximate five-week construction timeline and the old playground equipment will be auctioned off. He also said Community Day will be held Oct. 5, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and "We will have the NYS Trooper helicopter landing during the event," and that Electronic Recycling Day is scheduled for Sept. 14 in the town-hall back parking lot.
On utilities, Bott reported "We have had a few issues with our new billing system in the Utilities Department and are working on it diligently." He said the town is working with the software programmer to link meter heads to the new billing system and that billing will change from twice-yearly to quarterly, which increases clerk workload and may require additional staff. The board asked for patience from residents while staff addresses the transition and fixes system glitches.
