Board orders Wood Springs Suites to fix fire alarm system by Aug. 13, grants enforcement-cost entitlement

City staff told the Code Enforcement Board that the hotel at 16311 State Road 50 (Wood Springs Suites/Sandpiper Orlando Clermont) had an inoperative fire alarm enunciator and that fire-prevention inspection records and photos showed equipment not functioning. Fire prevention had hand-delivered notices; the hotel remained noncompliant as of the hearing.
Jeremy DeBryan, the regional manager representing Sandpiper Hospitality, told the board the system failed in late April/early May and the company contracted for a full replacement. He said architectural drawings and three inspections were required before final activation and that the contractor estimated the system would be fully operational by Aug. 5 if inspections were available; staff and the fire marshal recommended a slightly later compliance date to allow for required testing. The board found a violation, ordered correction on or before 08/13/2026, stated fines of $1,000 per day would apply after that date and granted the city entitlement to enforcement costs.
