City reports: DEQ submissions for wastewater plans, Senior Center progress, staff certifications and software review

Public Works Director Russ Reigel reported collections and facilities plans are being submitted to the Department of Environmental Quality; staff certifications and library window work are underway; and the city is reviewing asset management software estimated at $6,000 per year. Police Officer Mitch Matthews is due to graduate the police academy Jan. 17.
Public Works Director Russ Reigel told the council that the collections plan and facilities plans for the wastewater system are being submitted to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). City Administrator W. Scott Jorgensen credited Wastewater Plant Operator Brian Liga for maintaining compliance as the city moves forward on plan submissions.
Reigel gave several operations updates: three library windows are scheduled for restoration and reinstallation around Jan. 20; Public Works Lead Bryan McConnell is pursuing a Distribution 2 certification; Reigel and Water Plant Operator Nyk Ladage are applying for Water Treatment 1 certifications with classes in February; and Liga is applying for his Wastewater 1 certification with a class in March. Reigel said staff is exploring municipal asset management software at an estimated $6,000 per year that could be offset by eliminating an identified unnecessary expense. Police Chief Gregg Griffith reported Officer Mitch Matthews graduates from the police academy on Jan. 17.
