Director reports new development, mill reopening and planned Main Street paving

During the Director’s report staff highlighted several local developments and public-works plans. The Director said a new eatery in the Rooster area and a 60,000-square-foot data center at the Oppenden site are advancing; he also said a mill purchase by 'Lexington' returned about 50 employees to a reopened mill formerly operated by Owens Corning. "They immediately put 50 employees back in there, and they're gonna slowly ramp up production," the Director said.
On infrastructure, staff said the city is finishing a second ASR injection and recovery well with an associated building and backup generator, and plans to pave Main Street from 3rd to Lynn and address drainage problems at 4th and Main before paving. Commissioners discussed housing infill and a subdivision that appears to have lapsed; staff said developers may need to reapply if approvals expired. The Director said staff will circulate updates as details solidify.
