Council to consider second primary resiliency hub near I-10 and a beachfront cooperative agreement on Aug. 5

Mayor Marshall Simeon told listeners that the August 5 city council agenda will include an item asking the council to authorize the location of a second primary resiliency hub near Interstate 10 on Opelousas Street.
Simeon noted that the city previously authorized an indoor sports complex near the lakefront as the first primary resiliency hub and said the administration is committed to strategically placing primary and secondary sites across the city to aid disaster recovery efforts and provide community resources.
He also said the council will consider authorizing the city to enter a cooperative endeavor agreement with the selected respondent from a recent request for proposals for beachfront development, calling it an opportunity to enhance the lakefront and expand recreational and economic opportunities.
