Staff concluded the Canal Street sidewalk (approximately 12 feet wide at the site) could maintain a five-foot clear pedestrian path with the proposed arrangement and noted the applicant provided liability insurance naming the city as additional insured.
Owner Phil Grzezinski described the installation as a beautification effort, said the new bar-top seating replaced dilapidated picnic tables, and pledged to monitor ADA access and pedestrian clearance. Commissioners discussed maintaining the five-foot pedestrian corridor and compliance enforcement; staff said the commission may revoke the permission if the café fails to comply with operating standards. The commission voted to approve the sidewalk-cafe agreement on roll call.
