District presents 'problems of practice' work focused on literacy and MTSS across grades

District administrators updated the board on a problems-of-practice initiative focused on learner outcomes, literacy and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Presenters said the district held a multi-day retreat and followed up with bimonthly meetings; work included cross-classroom visits between preschool and kindergarten, forming a pre-K/kindergarten transition team, and adopting the Arts and Letters curriculum for K-5. One presenter summarized results: "We established monthly meetings between our pre k instructors and teachers and our kindergarten teachers," noting the changes aim to support transitions and equity for learners.

At the secondary level, administrators described aligning high-school ELA assessments to standards and using an AI-assisted mapping approach to identify gaps across benchmarks. Leadership credited Resource Training and Solutions for support and said some professional-development costs are grant-funded; the board discussed continuing support and potential future contracting for follow-on work.
