The Watertown-Mayer board approved awarding the districtwide roofing contract to Jackson and Associates after SMX representatives summarized the June bid opening and review. SMX's Mr. Rayer told the board there were four bidders and that Jackson was the apparent low bidder; he said the company accounted for replacing wet insulation discovered in infrared scans and proposed a fast schedule that would minimize classroom disruption by doing noisy or disruptive work in August and using multiple shifts to complete the middle/high school work by November.
Board members asked about student and staff safety, staging and parking for contractor vehicles; Mr. Rayer said the contractor had staging plans that limit deliveries during peak school times and that the district already identified staging areas. The motion to approve the roofing-bid resolution to accept Jackson and Associates was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
