Dr. Shannon Buff described the district's communications and family-engagement plans (ParentSquare, Infinite Campus, multilingual outreach), expanded mental-health resources and practical supports for families. She said the district will implement an updated student electronic-device policy for PreK-8 that requires personal devices to be turned off or out of sight during instructional time, with exceptions for documented IEP, 504 or medical plans. "This means every student will receive school breakfast and school lunch at no charge and with no application required," she added when describing the district's participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).
The presentation emphasized early orientation and staff training: more than 200 new teachers were welcomed and district professional learning adjustments were made to give teachers more time in their classrooms before students arrive.
