Rosebud County health staff review needs-assessment findings, await part-time nurse hire

Jared, a Rosebud County public-health official, told the board the steering committee completed a second meeting at RHCC and will move to an implementation meeting to translate assessment findings into a strategic plan for the hospital and public health.
"They review everything they found as part of the assessment and start working on putting together a strategic plan," Jared said, describing the next steps for aligning hospital and public-health priorities. He added that county residents report learning about services mostly through the department website and Facebook and that outreach remains a priority.
On staffing, Jared said the department has interviewed candidates for a part-time nurse and is preparing an offer but the hire was not finalized at the time of the meeting. "We still have not hired a part time nurse...we have interviewed and we're making an offer," he said.
Committee members pressed whether the assessment raised immediate programmatic issues; Jared pointed to the county's persistently high cancer rate and ongoing mental-health needs as top concerns to be addressed in planning. The department plans to publish the finalized assessment on the hospital website and make it available to the public.
