Superintendent outlines staffing plans and pilots new math curricula

At the superintendent report, district leadership outlined several staffing and curriculum items intended to prepare the district for the coming year. The superintendent said staff are ordering curriculum materials now and plan to pilot two or three math programs during the winter with the goal of selecting a new math curriculum for the 2728 school year.
"We're piloting 2, maybe 3 math programs this winter or fall and winter to adopt a new math curriculum for the 2728 school year," the superintendent said. She also described hiring activity at the high school: a long-term science substitute has been placed for the upcoming term and the district will repost the position in hopes of hiring a certified chemistry/science teacher for spring semester.
The superintendent also reported work on master scheduling, student-teacher placements with MSU to identify December graduates for possible hire, and plans to pilot a hybrid CIS (computer information systems) class so students could learn on-site two or three days a week while completing work independently on other days. The superintendent closed by noting fall registration is open and that staff continue outreach on permanent school funding to county and city officials.
