S1 (Staff member) reported that, following the light-pole incident, "1 van was completely totaled by the insurance company. The other van was not totaled." S1 said the non-totaled van is going to Jeff's Garage in Fairport for assessment and that transportation staff will coordinate with the business office and insurer on repair estimates.
S2 (Staff member) told the committee repair shops provided estimates substantially higher than the adjuster's appraisal and said there is about a "$20,000 difference" between the insurer payment and the replacement van; staff said the replacement-vehicle item will be on the Thursday board agenda with a proposed purchase to cover the shortfall. The committee discussed the variance among local shop estimates and the insurer's figure and noted ongoing back-and-forth with repair shops and the adjuster.
