Buckeye abatement complete; kitchen, gym floors to be replaced before school

That means that Cleveland Construction can then go in and start doing the kitchen floor and the Buckeye Gym floor, either later this week or beginning of next week." S1 said the kitchen floor will be replaced with a food-service-grade epoxy and that the gym space—where asbestos tiles previously existed—will be refloored with 12-inch BCT tile and will primarily serve as student dining rather than a gym going forward.
The committee also completed a page turn with Cleveland Construction, the architect and engineers to review alternates and adjustments to plans. S1 said windows in the gym and other alternates remain contingent on funding and bidding outcomes and that pricing for alternates should arrive in the next few weeks. Staff emphasized sequencing and clearance must be complete before crews proceed with floor and finish work so the reopening timeline for school is met.
