At the May 6 Selectboard meeting, listers Alyssa Schmidt and Helen Holt told members they need to recruit and hire additional listers because Holt plans to reduce the time she spends as a Lister and would like to retire.
Schmidt and Holt said a new lister typically needs about three years of training and experience because certain responsibilities occur only once a year or less frequently. They said two listers is the statutory minimum but that having three would improve decision-making continuity. The pair estimated roughly $2,500 to bring on another lister.
The Selectboard did not vote on hiring at this meeting; members noted the issue for future agenda work and personnel planning.
