Mark Zordan of Johnson Engineering presented the Lee County NPDES Permit FLS000035-004 Cycle 4 Year 7 Annual Report, stating Lee County reviewed and approved the report and it will be filed with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection before the Nov. 1, 2024 deadline. Zordan told the Board the new permit is expected to be issued in the fall but the timing is uncertain; accordingly, staff were instructed to continue reporting into Year 8 until the new permit is released.
The Board and staff discussed possible changes to water sampling requirements under a future permit. A Johnson Engineering representative attends the bi-monthly Lee County NPDES meetings and sends minutes to the District Manager so staff stay apprised of permit developments. No compliance failures were reported at the meeting.
