Assistant Highway Superintendent Jim Novacek highlighted that Graystone’s larger building would require additional concrete blocks before installation and that Accu Steel is the supplier used by the State of Nebraska.
County officials expressed concern that Tri‑State’s price appeared significantly lower than the others and noted timeline constraints because salt needs to be ordered by August 1 to arrive in time for winter. Interim Highway Superintendent Greg Brecka said both Accu Steel and Graystone could install before winter, but additional due diligence was needed on the bids and site preparation.
The board tabled the item to the next meeting to allow staff time to research the bids and confirm installation timing so that salt ordering and delivery can be coordinated.
