Township manager outlines sewer, well and stormwater work; community energy plan on tonight's agenda

Township Manager Kevin O'Sullivan updated the council on several infrastructure projects and near-term milestones. He said the Derwent and Brookside sewer lining project will start in August and that a neighborhood outreach meeting is planned for early August. He also reported that the Fairview Avenue well rehabilitation is underway and remains on schedule for completion by Dec. 26, ahead of the township's March 2027 amended ACO deadline.
On interconnections and pump stations, O'Sullivan said the Montclair emergency interconnection feasibility study from Boswell is under review and will be circulated to the council when finalized; cost-sharing discussions with Montclair will follow after the study clarifies scope. He said the Clarus Drive pump station project has encountered slight delays securing utilities but that a gas main is now in place and work should finish once PSE&G remobilizes.
O'Sullivan noted the community energy plan — a grant-funded initiative — is on the agenda for adoption and must be submitted to the state by the end of the month to close out the grant-funded project. He added the town has requested updated AV proposals for the community center ballroom using grant funds from a previously adopted Comcast franchise renewal initiative.
