A council member reported that the Local Government Study Commission will hold its first public hearing on Sept. 8 to present and discuss the six forms of municipal government allowed under Montana law.
The council member said the commission will present a short explanation of each form of government, including the current mayor–council form, and will distribute a 10-question survey to collect resident feedback. “Our 1st public hearing is next month on September 8,” the council member said; staff will post additional signs and make the survey available to residents.
Council members encouraged residents to participate and said materials will be distributed in coming weeks; the hearing is scheduled to occur the night before the councils September meeting.
