Engineers report Pinehurst grate work near completion; Board hears stormwater, standing-water concerns after Tropical Storm Debbie

District Engineer Charlie Krebs told the Board that the MRI project to replace Pinehurst valley inlet grates is approximately 80% complete and that he will confirm the schedule for asphalt patching. He said the system largely flowed unobstructed during Tropical Storm Debbie but reached capacity in parts of the community that received nearly 8 inches of rain over two to three days; by contrast the roads are designed for roughly 5½ inches of rain over 24 hours.
A resident reported that standing water is coming up through a slab and causing mold in their unit; Mr. Krebs said he does not believe the standing water is the cause because other units did not report similar issues and requested Mr. Long address the item on the next agenda. Mr. Krebs also recommended the Club could add a drainage connection to E1-A so water can bypass pipes and inlets and flow directly into the lake to ease localized ponding.
Mr. Krebs also described the purpose of the new grates and the new style of curbing and cautioned the Board that the new grates might require more frequent cleaning. The Board asked staff to confirm any roadway or curb damage from recent repairs and to update residents at the next meeting.
