As part of a long-term traffic-calming plan, Operations Manager Shane Willis presented AV-Tech proposals that included $74,000 for three permanent 15-inch solar-powered digital speed radar signs, $1,500 per year for each cloud traffic device, and a separate $25,000 mobile unit option. Mr. Long recommended moving an existing unit after it recorded "800 varied speeding violations over a three week period." Mr. Willis said poles will be purchased from Paramount Asphalt at about $1,200 each.
On motion by Mr. Schultz and seconded by Mr. Blumenthal the board approved My AV-Tech LLC Estimates 24150 and 24151 to install three permanent and one mobile 15" solar-powered digital speed signs with cameras and messaging, plus $1,500 per cloud traffic device per year, for a combined total of $105,000. The board discussed criteria by PSGRC for issuing warnings and fines and suggested the HOA may assume future cloud-device costs offset by covenant traffic-fine revenues.
The approved purchase advances the district's traffic-calming program and funds both permanent and a mobile enforcement-capable unit; staff will coordinate pole purchases and placement and track program costs relative to the FY budget.
