The council unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding allowing the Cedar Lake Fire Department to use the Crown Point Fire Department's ImageTrend records-management contract. Staff said the change will align reporting workflows with neighboring departments and reduce annual costs.
"In the first year we'd save a little over $7,000, and in year two a little over $10,000," Jennifer told the council while outlining expected software and workflow efficiencies. The motion included authorization for the council president and fire chief to execute the MOU; roll call was 7 to 0 in favor.
Fire command said the MOU will not reduce service quality and will improve interoperability with regional partners; the council directed administrative staff to finalize contract execution.
