During public input, a resident (Speaker 2) described a recent serious tick-borne illness that required eight days in intensive care and left the speaker with heart damage and ongoing medical needs. He urged the town to take tick mitigation more seriously and recommended actions including widening trails, trimming trees and removing high grass along public walkways.
The speaker said he has spoken with other residents and emphasized prevention to reduce serious health and financial consequences. The Select Board thanked him for sharing his experience; as standard practice the board did not enter into extended discussion during the public-comment period but noted the concern for follow-up by relevant town departments.
