The Select Board opened its July 20 meeting with a set of community announcements and event notices that included the fall town meeting schedule and multiple summer and early-fall community events.
A staff member reminded listeners that warrant articles for the October 19, 2026 fall town meeting must be submitted to the town manager’s office at 50 Burwick Road by 4:00 PM on August 3, and that petition articles require at least 10 voters’ signatures. Memorial and community events were also promoted: the Military Covenant Task Force invited residents to a free military appreciation cookout, and the Historical Commission announced a daylight, reservation-only guided tour of Riverside Cemetery on Sunday, August 23 at 6:00 PM. "I'm Linda Preston from the historic commission, and I'm here tonight to invite everybody," said Linda Preston, describing the cemetery tour and noting it is a guided, daylight walk intended to make the grounds easier to navigate.
Separately, the board publicized a candlelight vigil for remembrance and hope set for Monday, August 31 at 6:30 PM on the Chelmsford Town Common, with a keynote speaker, remarks from Chief Hannigan, and musical tributes. The announcements included contact information for questions and encouraged residents to attend and support the events.
