Council approves designs for Chisholm/Primrose and 2026 pavement improvements

The Colstrip City Council approved two engineering task orders to advance the city's pavement management work. Task Order No. 45 to KLJ Engineering for Chisholm and Primrose improvements was approved in the amount of $405,700; the project includes replacement of roughly 84 service water lines and reconstruction of roadway sections, with construction estimated at about $2.2 million to be split between street and water funds.
The council also approved Task Order No. 46 to KLJ Engineering for the 2026 pavement improvements design for $110,960. Brenda (speaker 9) recommended designing nonstructural overlays for phases 1 and 2 together to achieve economy of scale and explained that combining the designs could potentially save around $62,000. Brenda noted phase 1 construction estimates around $843,000 and phase 2 around $985,000 and flagged a transportation planning grant opening September 8 that could offset design costs.
