Water project progress noted; concrete defects prompt engineer review and delay to pipe-bursting plan

The Chimney Hill Water Commission reported substantial on-the-ground progress on the water project but identified concrete defects that require an engineer's assessment.
Steve Boyce said crews completed clearing for the hydrant and service lines and installed lines, but then "defects in the concrete were noted, requiring engineer inspection. An engineer will assess the damage and recommend repairs this week," he said. Board members discussed postponing planned pipe bursting because of winter timing and instead using the season to plan for spring work.
Tom Sewall noted maintenance staff are continuing water-related tasks while the commission waits for engineering guidance. The commission plans a follow-up meeting after the engineer issues a recommendation.
