Board adopts RF meter deadline, debates short-term rental septic pressures

At the Sept. 21 meeting the board adopted Rules and Regulations language requiring RF water-meter installation in all CHOA homes by Dec. 31, 2029, and requiring replacement with RF meters at the time of a home sale. Paul DiPietro introduced the updates and the board approved the change as part of the Rules and Regulations revisions.
Dennis Heberlein outlined concerns that short-term rentals may be exceeding septic-system capacity and said the town has struggled to enforce its regulations; the town reportedly suggested the association consider creating its own rules to protect the water system. The board agreed to send the owner/renter/guest compliance section to the association attorney for recommended language. The minutes record the meter deadline insertion and a requirement that septic pumping occur every one to five years with proof submitted to CHOA administration.
