Selectboard moves to improve timely posting of agendas and minutes for boards and commissions

The Putney Selectboard discussed recurring failures by boards, committees and commissions to comply with Vermont’s open meeting law and agreed a system is needed to hold those groups accountable. Town Manager Karen M. Astley said staff has had ongoing difficulty getting timely agendas and minutes from some bodies.
Rebecca "Bex" Slattery volunteered to meet with Communications Liaison Rachel Rhein to design reminder processes—possibly annual reminders after Town Meeting—and to return to the Selectboard with recommendations. Fletcher Proctor said staff currently has the bandwidth to send reminders, but the board emphasized the importance of consistent compliance with state law.
