The Putney Selectboard voted Oct. 29 to buy a replacement pump for the Putney Inn pump station at a cost of $19,013. Town Manager Karen M. Astley told the board both original pumps were down; one has been repaired and the other is the original pump from 1977. The vendor lead time is 8–12 weeks, and in the interim the station will operate on a single pump, increasing stress and generating extra pump-outs billed at $225 per hour.
Peg Alden moved to approve the purchase and Rebecca "Bex" Slattery seconded; the motion passed. Selectboard Clerk Fletcher Proctor asked whether pump stations could be standardized for future resilience and suggested stocking a backup pump.
