Kiowa council hears routine maintenance, police and fire reports
Summary
At the Feb. 26 meeting, town staff reported repairs to water leaks and meter replacements, police recorded 709 contacts, and the fire department reported 20 calls including 15 grass fires; the community center’s water heater failure is covered under warranty.
Maintenance supervisor T. Whitfield reported that semi-major water leaks, including one at the sewer lagoons, have been repaired and that most of more than 30 nonreading water meters have been fixed. The maintenance crew also installed 10 culverts, performed vehicle service and replaced water meters at the Community/Nutrition Center.
Police and fire department reports showed routine activity: J. Wilson reported 709 contacts, 82 calls for service and 21 impounds for the police department. The fire department recorded 20 total calls, including 15 grass fires, one structure assist, one motor vehicle fire and one medical call. Community/Nutrition Center staff L. Goss said a leaking water heater appears to have ruptured internally but is under warranty and the town expects to recoup costs.
