Board issues interim‑use permit for seasonal agricultural worker housing with conditions

The board approved an interim‑use permit allowing seasonal agricultural worker housing on three parcels north of Dilworth, permitting occupancy of an existing farmhouse and an approved living portion of a shop for temporary agricultural employees.

Planning staff explained the property history, the need to address house septic compliance and to obtain building and septic permits for the shop conversion, and that combining the three parcels into one would address property‑line setbacks. Applicant Jerry Zimmerman said the site has hosted harvest workers for more than 20 years and that the shop already has a newly installed septic tank that environmental health inspected. Environmental health staff said a designer could propose a combined system or other solutions, but the house’s existing system is not currently compliant and must be addressed.

Staff proposed eight conditions, including final site and floor plans, environmental health approval of water and sanitation facilities, recording a boundary combination, and a permit termination trigger if the site is not used for housing for more than two consecutive years. The board voted to approve the interim use permit with the conditions listed.
