Council OKs Clay County sign-shop interlocal and schedules kiosk workshop for August

The council approved an interlocal agreement allowing Keystone Heights to use Clay County's sign shop for customized street and wayfinding signs to lower costs, and agreed to devote time later this summer to the concept of event kiosks.

Jamie Booth told council that the sign shop will likely be cheaper per sign and that staff sought authorization to execute the interlocal agreement; the council voted to approve the authorization. On kiosks, councilmembers discussed two concepts: permanent downtown structures and temporary pop-up kiosks for use at four major annual events. The council outlined questions about storage, who would set up and take down temporary kiosks, potential high-school shop involvement, whether an RFP would be required, and location logistics.

Council scheduled a workshop for 5:00 PM on August 3 (ahead of the August regular meeting) to review kiosk designs, costs and operations. A separate welcome-sign program was deferred to a November discussion so staff can focus on immediate grant and planning deliverables.
