The mayor added a subsequent-need item requesting a fee waiver for the Dollarhide Community Center so Eric Washington’s family could hold a repass on Saturday, July 25. Staff said the total rental cost was about $3,100; the facility fee was listed at $608, a refundable deposit at $250, and the application fee at $25. The city attorney and staff said the council could waive the facility fee, deposit and application fee but could not waive staff or security costs.
Council members volunteered donations to offset the remaining balance: one councilmember offered $500, another pledged to cover staff costs, and additional members pledged contributions. The mayor made a motion to waive the roughly $882 in facility-related fees (facility fee plus deposit and application fee); the motion passed by unanimous roll call. Staff characterized the remaining balance as the family’s responsibility unless covered by donations.
