Resident calls for civilian oversight and transparency after recent Compton killings

Perry also requested public transparency about the sheriff's budget and expenditures, specifically asking for detailed payroll and expense audits for more than $30 million the city pays the sheriff's contract. The council did not vote on a formal oversight measure at the meeting; the remarks were entered as public comment and will inform future discussions about public safety and contracting.
