Roanoke County schools introduce slate of new principals and assistant principals

Jim Bradshaw introduced a large group of newly appointed administrators for the 2026–2027 school year and asked them to come forward to be recognized. He named principals and assistant principals by school and cited prior posts for many appointees: Liana Rippey at Northside High School (previously assistant principal at Northside), Tyler Brown at Glenvar Middle School (previously AP at Glenvar Middle), Kristen Schmidt at Burlington (previously AP at Oak Grove), Jeffrey Swanson as dean at Northside High School, Brooke Blanks as supervisor of special education (previously a principal in Roanoke City), and Michael Kaufman as supervisor of maintenance (previously the division's construction coordinator).
Bradshaw told the board the division had "a great group of administrators" and invited photographs. Several appointees were noted as not in attendance because of vacations or scheduling; Bradshaw included brief anecdotes about some hires and the hiring process. The board congratulated the new administrators during the meeting.
