I've got together with the chiefs and came up with something that was very fair with today's standards," the speaker said, adding that chiefs (including Chief Mesker and Chief McKee) were "fully on board" with tighter budget controls for travel and training. Committee members commended the proposal and voted 5–0 to send the ordinance to the full Newark City Council for consideration.
