Commissioners told alcohol at events would require approval, license and insurance

Administrator said organizers who plan to sell beer or wine "have to have the insurance and the license" and added that the city must be named as a secondary beneficiary on liability insurance; the administrator also referenced a $1,000,000 liability insurance requirement as a condition for events with alcohol.
Commissioners discussed additional safeguards, such as requiring events with alcohol to have police on duty and to stop alcohol service one hour before the event ends. Staff emphasized that any alcohol at city facilities would be subject to the commission's approval and to insurance and licensing requirements intended to reduce city liability.
