Council approves sale of an AHCP home at 3353 C Street for $219,000; city outlines housing pipeline

Council approved the disposition of 3353 C Street, a three-bedroom, two-bath single-family home in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. CRA, to James Cherry Jr. for $219,000 through the Affordable Home Construction Program (AHCP). Community Development Director Steve Bell said the $219,000 figure represents construction cost and that an appraisal was not required for the sale.
Councilmembers noted this is Home Number 4 that the city has constructed and sold at cost, with additional homes (Nos. 5, 6 and 7) underway and a city goal of building 50 homes over five years. Council praised the program's role in adding to the tax roll and creating homeownership opportunities.
The motion to approve the sale carried with no opposition.
