Project staff reported that the MSBA Facilities Assessment Subcommittee (FAS) gave broadly positive feedback on the Medford High School educational plan and overall design during a recent review. The committee heard that FAS members complimented the integration of special‑education programming, urged clarification on elevator distribution and parking layout, and requested further detail on program adjacencies.
“This was probably the most positive FAS meeting that I’ve ever had the ability to attend,” project presenter Matt Rice said, summarizing the feedback and noting particular praise for the educational plan and the organization of the building. Staff also described follow‑up questions from the FAS on site topography, distribution of specialized programs and potential geothermal well locations.
The team outlined the schematic‑design schedule: MSBA board consideration begins August 26, 2026, with a series of reviews through April 2027; the project will target a City vote on June 8, 2027, followed by design development and construction documents through mid‑2029 and building/site completion in the early‑to‑mid 2030s depending on phasing and CMR input. Staff said they will submit the schematic‑design packet and the DESE special‑education methodology ahead of MSBA review.
