Eagle Scout proposes replacing Route 9W sign at Highland–Esopus border

Adrian Runsky, a member of Scout Troop 70, told the town board he plans to replace the old, damaged Route 9W sign at the Highland–Esopus border as his Eagle Scout project. “I am proposing my Eagle Scout project of replacing the road sign on Route 9 W,” Runsky said, describing the work and a plan for troop labor.
Runsky gave a materials and cost breakdown: new signs from Lamanna Signs ($760), wood ($100), paint ($95), cement ($30) and hardware ($25), for an estimated total of about $1,000. He said the troop would supply labor and asked the board and local organizations for support: “For funding, I’m hoping to get some funding from the Rotary, Lions Club, and the Legion,” he said. Board members and residents offered logistical assistance — including a temporary place to hold donations and help connecting with service organizations — and suggested plantings and post-installation upkeep.
Next steps: Runsky said he expects roughly two months of fundraising followed by one to two months for construction and removal of the old sign. He circulated a sample sign and accepted offers from board members to share his fundraising details once they are finalized.
