County signs up for HB 819 down-payment program; council urged to study housing needs

"Our county has allocated from the state of Montana $660,000 to help these purchases," the speaker said, describing the down-payment assistance program and the county's next steps. He recommended a county-wide housing study to produce data for pursuing grants and programs and suggested a longer-term county housing authority to coordinate federal, state and local efforts.
Council members acknowledged the county-level actions and said they would follow up as needed with county partners and grant administrators.
