BIC building near completion; Colstrip diversification strategy to be updated

During public comment Jim provided a status update on the Business and Innovation Center (BIC), saying siding and concrete work are almost finished and that Northwestern Energy will install the building transformer next week. He said the stacks for units 5 and 6 will be installed on the building soon and suggested a small public celebration when that occurs.
"We're looking at February 1, give or take a week," Jim said when asked about completion timing for interior work, and he added a grand opening is likely in April. Jim said the town will update the 2017 Colstrip diversification strategy to account for new technologies and transmission projects such as small modular reactors and other energy opportunities that were not in the earlier plan.
The update and the BIC project, he said, are intended to keep the community economically viable and to attract projects that rely on the town's diversification strategy.
