Council approves $17,264 change order for cemetery paving; seeks Colstrip grant

Colstrip City Council approved Change Order No. 1 to Warren Transport for additional cemetery paving work in the amount of $17,264.33.
The mayor explained the extra cost stemmed from unplanned grading and areas needing slope correction and from existing scoria/asphalt conditions that required additional work. "What they did was they had to provide grading to slope that was not initially planned," the mayor said, describing reasons for the change order. A council member moved the change order, it was seconded, discussed briefly and approved by the council.
The mayor said he also has a request before the Colstrip Community Impact Foundation for $100,000 to help the next phase of the project; that grant request is scheduled to be heard in January. Council did not alter the change order amount and directed staff to proceed with the contractor's work.
