Town reports 99.3% tax collection rate; bills due Aug. 3

At fiscal year end in June, East Granby reported a 99.3% overall tax collection rate (above the 98.5 budget assumption). Tax bills were mailed June 30 and are due Monday, August 3; taxpayers without a bill were told to contact Tax Collector Heidi Tucker Dillon.
The Chair reported that the town closed the fiscal year with an overall tax collection rate of 99.3 percent, up from 99.13 percent the previous year and above the town's 98.5-percent budget assumption. "So we ended the fiscal year with an overall collection rate of 99.3 compared to last year which was 99.13," the Chair said.
She reminded residents that tax bills were mailed June 30 and that motor vehicle, personal property and the first installment of real estate taxes are due Monday, August 3. Taxpayers who have not received a bill were instructed to visit town hall or contact Tax Collector Heidi Tucker Dillon at (860) 413-3335. The Chair confirmed taxes remain due even if a resident did not receive a bill.
Officials noted some delay in mailing because staff had to calculate bills after setting the mill rate; those with questions were advised to call the tax collector's office.
