Council approves depositing $10,200 in donations and buying server for Sherburne theater reboot

"Currently, we have $10,200 in checks that are now approaching our 2nd month of not depositing and I would like to determine whether the city would like to deposit those with plans of using for the server," the clerk said. Council members moved to deposit the funds and purchase a server using those donations; staff said the formal acceptance of the donations will be handled by resolution at the next council meeting because city policy requires donations be accepted by resolution.
Staff also reviewed lease examples and comparative financials from other municipal theaters; operators in nearby towns reported the theater enterprise is often subsidized by municipal liquor store funds and that film licensing and weekend booking can cost from about $500 to $2,500 per weekend. Council approved depositing the donations and directed staff to proceed with the server purchase, with the formal donation resolution to follow.
